Fashion and technology are continually becoming more and more mutually exclusive. Ringly, Fitbit, the iWatch, anyone? This hasn't always been the case. Apple's chief design officer Jonathan Ive said during the Manus x Machina preview, "Far from being mutually exclusive luxuries, technology and craft are of course not at odds, and much like beauty and utility, go hand in hand — all the more powerful combination."

I was so excited to see how fashion and hi-tech came together at the Met Gala's Manus x Machina ("hand x machine") as the immersion of fashion and hi-tech continues to become more and more mainstream.

My best dressed picks were chosen based on the above criteria. I love the 3D printed flowers on Allison Williams' Peter Pilotto gown, and the metallic robotic looking gown by Balmain on Kim Kardashian. Kate Hudson's dress is totally the bridal gown of the future - can't you see brides wearing something similar 10 years from now?

Now onto my absolute FAVORITE of the night...

Claire Danes in Zac Posen.

Claire Danes in Zac Posen.

YES, YES, SO MUCH YES! Claire Danes' Zac Posen gown was perfection and embodied the theme absolutely perfectly. She was literally Cinderella.

The gown was hand-sewn, crafted from custom-made Gossamer fabric, LED lights, and 30 battery packs. Six people made the gown (unfortunately not Gus, Jaq, Major, Bruno, or a fairy Godmother), and it took 600 HOURS to make. Zac Posen said, "I'm interested in that place, where the past and future meet, because that's universal and that hits a chord around the world...just recognizing beauty and a magic moment between fantasy and technology."

And some more photos because the dress is so freaking beautiful...

Un.Freaking.Believable. I have to say that this is the most incredible dress I have ever seen.

From robotic metallics to 3D printing to enchanting dresses using LED lights, the 2016 Met Gala's red carpet proves just how seamlessly fashion and tech can come together to create a masterpiece.
